Martin Landau, um veterano ator e vencedor do Oscar, faleceu aos 89 anos no último sábado devido a “complicações inesperadas após uma breve hospitalização”, de acordo com seu assessor de imprensa.
Landau possui uma carreira extensa que se iniciou nos anos 50, quando começou a trabalhar como um cartunista de jornal. Após entrar no mundo da atuação, Martin fez papeis icônicos em séries de TV como The Twilight Zone e a versão televisiva de Missão Impossível, onde fazia o papel de Rollin Hand.
No entanto, a maior conquista da carreira de Landau foi interpretar o ator Bela Lugosi no filme biográfico Ed Wood, dirigido por Tim Burton. O papel rendeu a Martin um Oscar de melhor ator coadjuvante em 1995.

Landau faleceu no mesmo dia que o diretor George Romero, responsável pelo lendário longa Night Of The Living Dead.
